<div class=teaser-text>[[File:Before.png | 200px | right]] There is a set of principles that facilitators and teachers employ in the process of designing the theoretical and practical framework of their lessons and/or seminars. These principles are based on fundamental values such as respect, consideration, transparency, accountability, and so on. Facilitators always take into account the needs of the group when choosing the topics of the training and use non-formal education methods such as peer-learning, integration of the participants’ background knowledge in the process, etc.

After getting to know the ideas and concepts associated with participatory, competence-oriented learning, these approaches, ideas or theories need to be put into practice. They are reflected in the mindset of the facilitators, in concepts for learning processes and also in the way the logistical and organizational aspects are handled.

Difference between Planning and Organizing

  • Fundamental democratic values such as respect, transparency, accountability and solidarity are strongly connected with the facilitators' mindset. Preparation is in this sense also a self-reflection.
  • Other principles are connected with learning design: For example, how to make nice ideas such as competence-centered and experiential learning and participatory processes happen. This is what we call planning.
  • Organizing, however, describes the logistical and management aspects of preparation.
