It makes concrete methodology accessible, helps during planning trainings and empowerment programs and targets as well facilitators and educators that have less experience or are less involved in the European and national discourses on non-formal education, didactical principles or validation.

The handbooks for facilitators, trainers, animators or other educators will be published as PDFs, ebooks and hard copies. They will be completed by additional working material and the content of the virtual toolbox.

Grounding on our experience this attunement between print product and online source allows us to use the strengths of each media best. Print supports understanding of content more holistic and to develop a more precise story. The virtual toolbox allows more interconnection of content, more completing methods, involvement of third people`s experience, tips and links in an ongoing way.

==Competendo's  Journey==

Five organizations active in citizenship education from four European countries created Competendo in 2015. They were motivated by their own facilitation practices, inspired by the approaches of [https://theodor-heuss-kolleg.de  Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg], a program of Robert Bosch Stiftung and saw their need to structure their own experiences and share it with the public. Competendo is committed to developing contempary learning opportunities for civic competences and empowerment. The toolbox offers and shares experience, methods and inspiration for active citizenship-related learning and empowerment in communities, schools, or non-formal learning spaces, in organizations, universities or initiatives.

Empowerment for Active Citizenship

Our mission is to build a bridge between the theoretical dimension (competences, models), societal relevant issues and developments (socio-political dimension) and the concrete working fields of actors in formal and non-formal education (field dimension).

We want to make concrete methodology accessible, disseminate good practice and especially make an offer to those who are growing into the role of facilitator or who are less involved in the European and national professional discourse of civic and non-formal education.

We want to promote the innovative potential of civic education and democracy learning that strengthens participation from civil society from the bottom up. Because civic education and democracy learning happen in the midst of social life, we are committed to the exchange and collaboration of nongovernmental organizations, informal groups, civil society networks, and formal educational institutions toward this goal.
